of your summer ministry.
United Methodist Camp and Retreat Ministry leaders, along with our partners from Sacred Playgrounds, are excited about this opportunity to assess the United Methodist summer camp staff experience! Now, we need as many UMCRM camps as possible to help. We’re seeking to survey all UMCRM summer staff at the beginning of the summer and again at the end of the summer. This will allow us to measure growth and impact. We can’t wait to share what we learn together. This study is funded by UMCRM and directed by Sacred Playgrounds, using the methodology of the peer-reviewed Camp and Church Leadership Project (sacredplaygrounds.com/cclp).
Data from this study will help us tell the story of the impacts of working on summer camp staff, and we will also gain insights into how we can better care for and develop our staff. Findings will be shared online, in reports, at conferences, and in print materials. Camps that get more than 20 staff responses will also get a brief individualized fact sheet with specific data from their summer staff!
PRE-CAMP SURVEY
Perspectives, priorities, and personal experiences as staff begin their summer ministry.
This project starts with a survey of camp staff as they begin the summer. This survey is ideally completed within the first 1-2 days of arrival for the summer. The insights gained help us know motivations for joining summer staff, personal faith and life experiences leading up to the summer, and perspectives on their role.
POST-CAMP SURVEY
Insights on the impacts of the UMCRM camp summer staff experience
The second survey is taken just before staff leave after the summer, gathering insight into the key experiences that shaped them during the summer, how they were impacted, and what they see lasting into the future.
